What is an Asset?
Answer: An asset is either a piece of custom source code or a design guide that is applicable to a specific business software platform (SAP, Lotus Notes, Tivoli,...), that a customer has developed. The product category shows some types of assets, as well as examples of each.

Who can search the Asset Repository?
Answer: Anyone can search the Asset Repository and view Asset Homepages, but only registered customers can download documentation and source code files.

Who can buy and sell assets on the B2BSX exchange?
Answer: Only registered customers, i.e. those with an active customer account in B2BSX, can buy and sell assets. Both consumers of business software and partners are allowed to buy and sell assets on the Exchange. .Partners, which includes consulting firms and Independent Software Vendors (ISV's), are expected to adhere strictly to rules governing the Exchange. Partners should refer to the Partner Homepage for more details. We do not want some unscrupulous developer to benefit financially from looting a customer's source code. This is consistent with our core belief that a company that provides the business process knowledge and pays for the development should be the sole beneficiary of its use.

Answer: Legally, the Seller (licensor) is licensing the source code to the exchange, and the exchange sublicenses the code to the Buyer. The legal agreements are structured such that the Buyer has rights to the code in perpetuity (forever). The Buyer is able to change or enhance the code to fit their needs and, if they develop an add-on to the original asset, the Buyer can license that back to the exchange.

How do you get started?
Answer: If your company is interesting in buying or selling custom software assets, the first thing to do is to create a customer account for your organization. Once the electronic form has been received and properly validated, an e-mail containing the logon information will be supplied to the contact of record for the account. The process of validating the customer information usually takes 2-4 hours.

What is the Referral Opportunity Program (ROP)?
Answer: The Referral Opportunity Program is intended to allow project team members or consultants to enter leads for the sale of exchange assets. Assuming that the referral generates a sale, the person who entered the referral gets a referral fee equivalent to 5% of the asset sale price. The person creating the referral can request that his/her name is kept confidential.

What is the cancellation policy?
Answer: If during the evaluation process the Buyer is not satisfied with the asset, then the user can cancel the purchase. As stated in the purchasing agreement, if the Buyer cancels the purchase, they are expected to destroy all asset documentation and source code, and ensure (to the best of their abilities) that no portion of the source code has been copied and exploited.

What guarantees are included with the sale of an asset?
Answer: The assets are sold as is, with no guarantees of fit. The Buyer is expected to import the source code and test it prior to completing the purchasing process. The asset source code, documentation, and design are all evaluated by the B2BSX support team. The support team rates each asset so that the Buyer is provided a thorough assessment upon which to make its purchasing decision.

Does it cost anything to become a registered customer?
Answer: There is no membership fee associated with belonging to B2BSX, and it only takes 5 minutes to complete the registration form. Once your customer registration has been approved, you are able to search for custom assets, supply custom assets, and enter customer requirements.

Is there a membership fee to join B2BSX?
There is no membership or registration fee associated with joining B2BSX. All consumers of business software and partners are encouraged to join.
