Application Description: Managing trade spend and customer rebates is an inefficient process that often leads to overpayment or missed opportunities. Frequently, consumer products companies purchase packages that bolt-on to SAP in order to better manage this mission critical business process. This application, which resides directly in the core ECC instance, was developed by a consumer products company with one of the most recognized brands in the world. They infused the features of their homegrown legacy system and their considerable knowledge of trade spend into this tightly integrated solution. This application has been used successfully for several years to manage trade promotions with major US retailers, like Wal-Mart, K-Mart, and staples. It is a complete solution within SAP to create, revise and manage trade spending programs, as well as customer rebates. The application covers the trade spending processes from forecasting and budgeting through payment and profitability analysis. It recalculates open programs to automatically adjust the forecasted program. New programs can be created from existing programs to simplify maintenance. The asset includes 22 programs and 14 reports. It does not rely on standard rebate agreements in SAP because of the lack of functionality and poor downstream visibility of the rebate. As designed currently, it is not a suitable solution for companies that do direct store delivery (DSD), although we are willing to partner with a customer to enhance the product to satisfy their DSD requirements.
